Baby Clothes by Disney
We All Like Disney, Don't We? So Why Shouldn't Baby Like Disney Clothes?
In English speaking countries, Disney and children go together like wine and cheese. You will find in most households with children that there is something Disney around; books, videos, Disney Channel and of course, baby clothes. Always something in the home that was made by, produced by, licensed by, or endorsed by Disney. Anyway, Disney is not just for children, I recall going to see Dumbo in my early 20's with my girlfriend, because it was making a rare appearance at the cinema. The Disney characters, old and young, are still a major force in young lives, and older lives.
There is a natural affinity between Disney and children, the Disney Corporation has been making clothing for babies for nearly as long as they have been in business. This form of licensing and merchandising jumped to new levels when George Lucas proved that there was money in movie licensing tie-ins with Star Wars in 1977.
These days, when a Disney movie is released, there will be children's and babies’ clothing items, bearing images of the main characters, appearing on the shelves faster than you can say 101 Dalmations. While some Disney titles are hit or miss these days (compare the numbers for Home on the Range with those for Finding Nemo), there are always titles that seem to strike a chord with children and parents alike, and Disney still sells large volumes of children’s, toddlers’, and babies’ clothing related to those films.
Here are just a few examples of the Disney films with baby clothing merchandise:
The Little Mermaid
Even 16 years after its release, children and parents still love The Little Mermaid. Every little girl wants to be Arial (The Mermaid), and their mothers seem to enjoy helping them. Disney still sells t-shirts, swimsuits, and various other clothing items for babies and children with The Mermaid’s motifs.
Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is one of Disney’s most popular recent movie releases. Disney offers a great choice of Finding Nemo babies’ clothing designs. Like Mermaid, the film’s aquatic theme lends itself especially well to swimwear and summer wear for both boys and girls. In fact, the first item currently listed when you enter the “infants” page on Disney Direct, the company’s web store, is a Finding Nemo one-piece swimsuit for girls.
Classic Characters
The more things change, the more they stay the same, someone once said, and there's an element of truth in that. Of all the Disney themed apparel for babies and toddlers, no items are more popular with them or their parents than those that bear the images of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and the lovable dog Pluto. These are baby clothing items that are unlikely to ever disappear, and which are so popular that a child throwing a foam brick in the day care centre is likely to hit at least one kid with Mickey Mouse stenciled or printed somewhere on his or her clothing. Suffice to say that when you’re choosing casual clothing for your baby, you can’t go wrong with designs by Disney.
Like Disney films, the Disney Corporation has a keen eye for quality.
